Mrs Irvine

Head of St Mary's Catholic Primary School

I am delighted to welcome you to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.  We really are more than Just a School, we are a family Living; Loving; Learning together on a daily basis.

We understand that choosing the ‘right’ school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child.  Our website will provide you a window into life at St Mary’s but we really do encourage you to visit us and experience what it is that makes us such a special learning community where we work tirelessly to ensure children reach their potential.

We pride ourselves on working hard to identify each child’s individual needs, nurture their strengths and provide full support for any development areas.  This enables all of our children to reach their full potential and enjoy their schooling with greater confidence.  Pupils at St Mary’s making significantly above average progress from their individual starting points.

We believe that as St Oscar Romero said “aspire not to have more but to be more’ and use this to underpin all that we do.  Driving all that we do is our mastery and curiosity curriculum and the aim that All St Mary’s Pupils Investigate, Research and Explore in all of their learning journeys.

We can provide wrap-around care for those parents who would like a different approach to after school care, or who require longer hours to be covered, as part of our co-curricular clubs or our Sunrise and Sunset wrap around clubs.

We are proud to be a Catholic Academy within the Bosco Catholic Education Trust, but warmly welcome families of all faiths and beliefs, and none.

Every day is open day – come and visit us!  Our Year 6 House Captains will provide a tour of the school and you will be able to meet myself or a member of the leadership team.

Mrs Irvine, Headteacher

It is important that our pupils are equipped with the necessary skills for the fast-changing world in which we live.

Our Curriculum

We celebrate being a diverse school and have utilised this when developing our curriculum.  We want all of our pupils to have big ambitions and high expectations of themselves.

We are an outward looking school with a strong sense of community, and we aim to create a curriculum that truly meets the needs of our children.  It is our children’s voices that we want to drive and shape that curriculum; a rich, exciting and balanced curriculum that enables each individual child to develop academically, emotionally, creatively, socially and physically.

Our curriculum will enable the children to share ideas, express their opinions, and apply knowledge and skills learned in a wide range of meaningful contexts.  It will offer opportunities for all children to investigate, question, debate and challenge. It will enable all children to flourish and to be the very best they can be.

Our Staff
