From the 1st June at the earliest Primary schools welcome back children in:

·     Reception

·     Year 1

·     Year 6

Alongside full time provision for priority groups

The date for opening is still to be confirmed by the Prime Minister. The following plan is what will happen at St Mary’s if it is deemed safe for all to do so. The decision to reopen will be made by the government by determining if their five tests are met.

I am very aware that we are in a situation that we have not faced before. I know many staff, parents and children are feeling anxious about returning to school and that the school we return to will be very different from the school we left in March. The governors and SLT have taken decisions about the pace of reopening with staff and pupil wellbeing at the forefront of our minds. Please remember that it is your decision, everyone has their own concerns and anxieties so as I have said before please respect each other’s decisions and do what is right for you and your family.

If the government approves the extended opening we will welcome Key worker, Vulnerable, EYFS, Year 1 and Yr 6 children in, in small bubbles from the 1st June.

There are staggered starts and collection times. There will also be separate playtimes and lunchtimes for each bubble. Children from EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6 will be grouped in bubbles and will be in school either Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday each week. At the moment we are not able to offer full time places at school to anyone other than key worker or vulnerable children.

We are working hard amongst lots of uncertainties to try and make the school as safe as possible for everyone. We cannot however guarantee social distancing it is impossible with children.

The Powerpoint  - click here or for a PDF version - click here details our response and plan for wider opening, please read this, some key points are included below.

You will receive an email stating which Bubble your child is in.

Only Key worker/Vulnerable children will be in school on Fridays.

Highlights from Powerpoint – it contains much more information please make sure you read it.

Your child may not be taught by their class teacher, they may not be in their own classroom.

Prior to returning to school the children will know which classroom they are in and who their teacher is.

This is because we are reducing group sizes as much as possible.

To reduce risk

Wear clean clothes every day

Please ensure your child comes in freshly clean clothes every day.

You should change out of the clothes worn to school and wash them immediately on arriving home

School uniform should be worn – EYFS, Year 1 and Key worker/Vulnerable children should wear School PE kit. Year 6 should wear full school uniform. It is more important that clothes are clean.
