SEND local
offer during Remote Learning
Our response to
COVID-19
We know this is a difficult and worrying time, and we want to be as clear as
possible about what you can expect while children are involved in remote
learning.
We’re continue to work closely with parents and carers during this difficult
time to help you support your child’s needs whilst they complete remote
learning activities.
Children with EHCPs will be offered a place in school, other children with
additional needs will be offered a place if the risk assessment allows due to
size of bubbles. Children working at home will receive differentiated
work and resources so they can complete their remote learning activities at
their own level. They will be able to contact their teacher by email or
request a zoom call outside of the normal school day.
The inclusion team will make at least weekly contact to make sure that the
whole family is receiving the most appropriate support that is available to you
both from school and external agencies.
Referrals will continue to be made to external agencies as appropriate.
Any consultations following these will be conducted virtually using a platform
agreed by all parties.
Provision specified in the EHC plan
Changes to, or reductions in, the EHCP provision during this outbreak will not
be considered to have agreed a permanent change to their EHC plan.
We will use reasonable endeavours to support these children and their families
and put in place provision – this means will all do what we practically can to
enable children with special educational needs and disability (SEND) are
supported.
Supporting SEND learners returning to education
We will work with families to plan for SEND learners as they transition back
into school following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Reviewing any
additional needs or support required in order to ensure a smooth return.
EHC plan reviews
Our first priorities are that children and families are safe and supported
through this. This may impact on the normal schedule of annual reviews however we
endeavour to hold the review as close to the planned date as possible.
EHCP reviews will be held via zoom. When you are invited to an ECHP Review you
will also receive the zoom access details.
Access any reports or advice submitted as part of a review will be shared with
you before the meeting and you will be invited to share your views ahead of the
meeting.
When you are invited to a review meeting, the EHC Hub will provide details of
when and where the meeting will take place and who else has also been invited.
You will also have the opportunity to share your views ahead of the meeting.
